Father definately knew best!!! The son has managed to muddle what was truly one of Americas great unique dining experiences. From the non-steakhouse expanded menu to the removal of time tested favorites like the port shittake mushroom sauce, Berns has changed, and not for the better.Service in the fabled dessert rooms can be spotty. They shouild be wake up as there are now many options for premium steak in lil old Tampa Bay. Wine list is a "ten"

A Tampa tradition and a must eat place. Not the best steak in the world (Pine Club, Dayton OH); not the most visually stunning decor either (L'Oustau de Baumaniere in Le Baux de Provence, France) but it is "interesting"; outstanding service and consistent with high-quality restaurants elsewhere. Definitely has the best wine list compared to any restaurant anywhere in the world--really. Nice kitchen and wine cellar tour too. Recommend Highly.

What an expierence. If you love wine and steak you must go. The service is as good as anywhere in the world.

This is a good (unfortunate) example of an iconic restaurant resting on its laurels and little else. The steaks are disappointing; not even in the top 3 in Tampa. The best thing on the menu is probably the French onion soup, and the dessert room is a must. Beyond that, the Bern's experience tends to leave you wondering why you just spent $80 on something you probably didn't enjoy all that much.

Don't come to Tampa without going to Bern's. Its a unique dining experience. Ask for a kitchen & wine cellar tour. Food is really good. Plan on dessert in the dessert bar upstairs, its phenomenal. Decor is like beiing in an episode of 'The Munsters' or an old-fashioned bordello.
