I've been coming to NOLA for about ten years now and always stop by The Alpine for their fried oyster poboy. I feel it's the best I've had, then again for $11.50 it should be. I took a first timer and first time oyster eater there and she was totally amazed as well. We also had the stuffed crab cakes that are to die for. I will continue to try new places every time I go back (December, 2009) but will for now hold Alpine as the standard.

We had a great meal planned by Lori with wonderful service from Sherri. There were 8 of us with a pre-planned menu of wonderful appetizers - the fried oysters, gator sausage, BBQ shrimp (all peeled) were the best. Then their "Taste of New Orleans" that could not be finished we were so filled from the appetizers. We found room for the bread pudding desert. Food, service and courtyard were great. We are so pleased we found this place.

Unlikely name for a Cajun/Creole restaurant with a rustic atmosphere. Went there late during Mardi Gras and they let us (9 of us!) in anyway. Got exceptional service with some dishes that simply amazed. The alligator sausage is spicy with just the right amount of fat. They serve grilled items all day. The duck of the day was tender and the sauce complex and wonderful. Other slow-simmered sauces amazed us with their complexity.

An unknown courtyard with a great breakfast and tasty mimosa's. A quiet place to visit after Mass at St Louis Cathedral
