I took my wife here for her birthday and we could not have been happier with the selection. The chef/owner, Luigi, was behind the bar when we came in and was very engaging while our table was set. The food is some of the best italian food i've had in the city. The veal ragu was incredible as well as my venison shanks. It is a bit pricy but for special occasions there is no place better in the city if you're in the mood for Italian.

I continue to be annoyed by having to ask for the prices of specials in front of my date, and now I have to ask for the prices of wine by the glass. My god, you have a computer, print out a list of wines by the glass and prices. And why do you insist on serving the white wine in huge glasses more appropriate for red. Even if it's a reasonable pour, it looks puny.

This is our favorite Italian restaurant in DC. While others like Tosca (which is also good), I think the food at Al Tiramisu is slightly better and the atmosphere is much better than at Tosca. The service is attentive and very professional, and I have yet to have something from the menu that wasn't good. Their lamb ragu was fantastic.

This has become one of my favorite places. The simply grilled fish and al dente pastas are especially good. Desserts are delicious and beautiful. The waiters have a wry, sarcastic sense of humor that keeps fine dining from being a bore. Best to book a reservation up to a week in advance because they don't have any problems filling their seats.

Although service rarely makes a meal, it can easily break it. Al Tiramisu had easily the worst service I have ever encountered. The waiter was inattentive and worse, argumentative. The wine was blatantly "corked" and spoiled, and the waitier agreed that it smelled "off" but told us it was fine. We disagreed and tried to send it back, but he refused, charging us for the bottle even though we drank none of it. Not worth your time or money.
