This Zagat food rating is way off. This is a 23 food rating at best. Obelisk would have a tough time in a more sophisticated city like New York. We ate there recently and were very disappointed. First of all there is too much food. You have only one choice which is the tasting menu. The antipasto was weird. They offered a fatty suckling pig slice followed by a plate of octopus. Can you say Alka Seltzer? Skip this one and feel healthy!

The prix fixe menu defines fine Italian dining. Multiple antipasti are followed by two entrees, cheese and dessert. Go hungry and with a full wallet. Wine offerings are very well chosen and the staff are most helpful in making good matches with food.

The decor is simple, but the food is outstanding and the service is knowledgeable and good. Although the menu is set at $70, the uniqueness of the dishes, the combination of flavors, and the availability of some choice makes this restaurant one that we will go back to, if for no other reason than to try whatever the new menu may offer. It has to be delicious.

Where does gourmet end and gourmand begin? Obelisk's prix fixe is a never ending feast. Appetizers are exquisite, pastas unsurpassed, fish superb, cheeses heavenly, desserts to die for--and you might considering the enormous quantity of food offered. But, alas , you will almost never see a salad or a vegetable. Obelisk is a pricey treat but it left me wondering whatever happened to the Mediterranean ideal of balance and moderation.

Obelisk is a dining pleasure! Unique and inventive menu and very knowledgeable servers! The pre-fixe menu was outstanding and don't miss the brilliant wine selections! Our server pointed us in the right direction with a wonderful bottle of Paolo Bea, a small winery producing small batches of delicious vino!
