Had dinner at Bertha's with friends the other night. Great location, atmosphere and food, but the service was very poor. Sometimes okay, but overall surly and cold. The host and the our waitress need some lessons on customer service. Visiting the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Federal Hill and Annapolis over a four day period; in many restaurants and pubs, we had great service and positive experiences EXCEPT FOR THIS PLACE.

I knew this place would have a lot of reviews. People who go here are almost all fans - count me in. Everyone knows about the mussels (great) so let me mention the chicken liver appetizer. Good but don't order it unless you really, really like chicken liver. Over the years it seems that reservations are becoming more necessary.

Bertha's has awesome mussels, passable steak, great burgers and unbelievable chicken livers in sherry. We keep going back!

It is all atmosphere at Bertha's ,an ancient and venerable Fells Point institution. The food is good, though not extraordinary, and even the legendary high tea has grayed. But the bar, festooned with instruments and memorabilia, and populated with characters, is well worth the visit.
