Excellent! Ambiance is traditional but not boring and includes a beautiful view of the canal. We did the tasting menu with wine pairings and added truffles as well. The food was fantastic with creative, flavorful combinations. The wines were unique and very well paired with the food. An excellent sommelier was able to describe why each wine was chosen for that course. Service was superb with thorough explanations of each dish. Best in Amsterdam!
was surprised after reading all the great reviews how ordinary both the restaurant and hotel turned out to be. restaurant is lovely although you sit at the same level as the canel so you don't have a great view--it's sort of like being in a basement. food was basic but had too many spices and the dishes were overly complex. by the way, the hotel is in need of a series renovation. much nicer places in amsterdam for food and lodging.
Took a friend here for a landmark birthday celebration. The ambiance and decor was lovely overlooking the Amstel. The staff was attentive if not overly so. Now for the food...having dined at many Michelin starred establishments I was surprised at the unusual interpretations of the courses. Many amuse bouches were peppered in between the main courses. The scallops and monkfish were outstanding. What they do with basic preparation they do well!
We were greeted at the hotel door and escorted to the restaurant. The view was spectacular and the food was superb. the wait staff attended to our every whim. It was by far the best dining experience we have had in Europe!
Le Rive is a top of the world experience. I agree with your posted review, but must add that the sommelier is one of the most gracious men you'll meet anywhere in the world. Eating outside on a summer evening is an unbeatable experience as well.
