The food was quite good, and you bet they are catering to foodies! It's hard to call this Bavarian (if you want that go 1/2 block to the Hofbrauhaus, or even better Haxnbauer which is just as close), but there were some hints of Bavaria in there. The decor rates maybe a little higher than 20 (classical and elegant - no beer hall tables here), and the service perhaps slightly less than 25 (although there were no major flaws).

The food was good, the decor was very nice, and the service was flawless. Unfortunately, the food seemed to lack any local influence. It felt as though they were trying too hard to appeal to foodies. Schubeck's is wonderful for foodies; however, it's far too overpriced if you are looking for a fine meal with Bavarian influences.

We were invited to try Alfons Shuhbeck's offerings twice as it opened. The food, service, ambiance, and quality of guests was excellent. It has to rank as one of the best restaurants in Germany... Food was delicious and memorable.
Herr Schuhbeck was present, and personally came by the table to visit. He is a TV chef-celebrity, like our U.S. Chef Emeril, and it makes a unique dining experience.
I have recommended it to friends, and long
