Very good service, attentive without being overwhelming and quite friendly. Traditional and elegant decor but not stuffy. Food was excellent. You can have a choice between classic Viennese dishes or modern lighter and delicious food. The duck was superb. Wine list is impressive and the advice on pairing with food outstanding. For lighter fare (open-face sandwiches and oyster bar in winter) try crowded but lively front room

Outstandingly good food, terrifically friendly and helpful service (our waiter helped us through every possible choice in English and also did a splendid job as sommelier), and a fun atmosphere. Expensive but worth it. The "ladies who lunch" reputation is undeserved. This is NOT an unhip place.

Dine at this place if you want to experience the traditional Austrian/Central European cuisine. The food such as pastries, boiled beef, wiener schnitzel is exellent, quite the real thing. Traditional deserts are outstanding: try the apricot pancakes. There is a wide selection of Austrian and German wines and the sommelier will provide as much information and advice as you need, without being pushy. The overall experience is distinctly Austrian.
