SuperNOVA among other dimmer weaker stars. The Food is more than to die for, it is worth believing in reincarnation: dying and coming back yet for more. Classic when everything else is merely trendy. Sure it's not cheap, sure the wines have the normal mark-up of other top end restuarants (I love the Latours!), but if eating here is a sin, I will never be saved. Le Vallauris is not a ticket to heaven, but it comes pretty darn close.
An excellent place with both the classic French dishes, and some newer ones. The menu is a bit limited but the quality of materials and preparation are such that maybe the 2 score is a bit mean. The desserts are a disappointment, too large and not in style. The service is similarly quite good, and most will not be disappointed , especially by typical Socal standards. The wine list is outstanding as are its prices.
Attentive service and exceptional wine menu. Although the food was generally very good, I expected greater inventiveness from a restaurant that rates a 27 for food. I ordered the Lake Superior White Fish, and was disappointed at the heavy-handed preparation of what was supposed to be a house speciality. To the cynics that say "don't eat fish in the desert" I say "don't serve fish if you can't do it well."
An elegant classic! I'm known to drive to PS from LA for the weekend solely to dine at Vallauris.
We had a truly enchanted evening. Patio seating is a must! Service was slightly confusing by the number of people but consistently good. The food is classic French, even down to the classic French bread rolls, nothing innovative but perfectly prepared and seasoned. I had my first true coq a va and was blown away. I would go back time and time again.
