High expectations partially met . Serious gourmets however will be dissapointed. High points were the beef, (tartare & filet) , lobster bisque and organic beets. Risotto dishes were marred by overall blandness and mushy lobster tail. Dover sole noteably dry. Upside the scallops were exceptional in taste and firmness. Service was very competent and attentive. After 25 years I have concluded there are no acclaimed restuarants in the valley.

We took advantage of the half price entree special and our experience there was very favorable. I had the lobster bisque soup, which was good and the beef entree which was very good. Creme Brulee dessert and a pot of fresh brewed tea finished the meal. My wife loved her Risotto. Cost was $200 with tip for three people, each having an appetizer and entree, 2 glasses of wine total, one dessert and two teas. Not bad. Service was very good.

A common affliction in Colorado is the mice playing while the cat is away. No restaurant embodies that problem more than La Tour. If the owner is not there simply do not go. A recent dinner took three hours for three courses, the Manager was surly and virtually every dish reeked of vinegar. Call ahead if the owner is on the premises think about it if not do not even think of going. Wildly inconsistent.

i have been going to la tour for years and they are a piece of vail history. recently, i went to try their new organic summer menu. it was divine! the miso broiled halibut with baby bok choy and gingered oyster mushrooms was heavenly! they are doing a special where i was able to get three courses for $39--i couldn't believe it! my service was impeccable. he was extremely knowledgable and didn't overbear our table. la tour is a must!

SECOND BEST RESTAURANT IN VAIL BEHIND KELLY LIKEN, IMO. MUCH BETTER THAN THE LEFT BANK EVER SINCE LEFT BANK'S MANAGEMENT CHANGED. FOOD IS GREAT, SERVICE IS GREAT. Tenderloin was just flat out awesome and the creme brulee flambee was terrific.
