modern but intimate setting. great food, have the egg filled ravioli. you will like this place.
We went there for Restaurant Week. The decor, service were excellent, but the food was not as good as we expected. For the appetizer, the salad and soup were good, for the main course, the fish was good but the tortellini was too salty! for the dessert, the chocolate cake was nice but the pistachio cake was so so and the lemon ice cream was too sour!
My favorite thing about Alto was their house martini's with basil, they were really good. The food was good, but not amazing. I had the veal chop, and while it was good, I can think of a couple of places that are better. The decor is OK, not my favorite style, but the trendy wall of wine display is nice. The service wasn't bad, but either they were standing over you wanting your drink order as you were still getting seated, or couldn't be found.
Three of us had different menus and were thrilled the wines were paired specifically to each - often overlooked by other restaurants. Our server was delightful and attentive. Food was high quality but not overly immaginative. Ambiance is a bit odd - is it traditional or contemporary or is it just a slightly off mix? We were all in our mid-30s to mid-40s and the crowd was definitely more "experienced." Prices did not seem outrageous.
