While the food and wine was excellent, we had a really hard time getting served - as did the table next to us. While the waitress was perky and knowledgable when present, we had to flag her down several times. In addition, they ran out of the "house" Pinot Noir and goat cheese. We were disappointed.

Sonoma is a beautifully decorated restaurant on Capitol Hill. Unfortunately, the decor is the best thing about it. We had reservations and arrived on time, but they seemed unprepared for us. The place is loud, too loud to talk across the table without straining to hear. The staff are nice enough, but are slow and disorganized. The food was pretty but not particularly good. Perhaps this would be a place to have a glass of wine at the bar.

I have been here twice. There was something wrong with an entree both times. As in crab appetizer with a strange smell of ammonia. Food is average-indifferent to start with. No extra credit to make up for sloppiness.

Entirely too crowded with Hill staffers trying to impress one another.

After 15 minutes with no greeting from our server, when she finally arrived, forget drinks! We were asked what we wanted to order, without any explanation of specials. Heavy-handed dressings drowned what could have been three delightful salads. Au poivre sauce was uneventful. Proprietor seemed detached yet entitled, like his DNC clientele.
