Westside steamed-buns-and-more restaurant Yum Bunz is officially closed. Launched by Mike Blum and Miso Izakaya's Guy Wong last summer, Yum Bunz's opening was highly anticipated and seen as a key player in the revitalization of the Marietta Street corridor and a promising foray into fast food from a high-profile local chef. Yum Bunz's menu focused on Chinese bao steamed buns and other dim sum items like fried dumplings.
The restaurant originally closed its doors in mid-December and announced that changes would be upcoming, but Miso Izakaya late Friday night posted on its Facebook page (below) that Yum Bunz will remain shuttered. There's a rumor that the owners are considering opening a Vietnamese-inspired restaurant in the same space, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
