Chef Throwdown Pits Barley Swine Against Beetnik

On Thursday, Aug. 29, Barley Swine's Kyle McKinney will compete against Beetnik Foods’s chef and founder David Perkins for the gold. The chefs are throwing down in honor of Beetnik Foods’ one-year anniversary, and the party is sponsored by Citygram magazine too. (If you haven’t heard of Beetnik before, the company delivers frozen, healthy meals to your door.)
Each chef will be preparing their take on a dish using a beef shin, and you can help pick the winner (along with a panel of judges, including our Austin blogger, Megan Giller). You’ll also be able to try samples from each of the chefs as well as food from Beetnik (think local, organic, gluten-free items sourced from Dewberry Hills Farm and Jacobs Ranch) and sips from East End Wines, Starlite Vodka, Flat Track Coffee and Hops and Grain, plus live music.
