The Uchi and Uchiko team announced today that it is branching out from upscale Japanese-inspired cuisine to open a casual neighborhood restaurant, St. Philip, in Sunset Valley. The restaurant will feature pizza, sandwiches, seasonal shared plates and baked goods for dine-in or takeout. Philip Speer, the team’s executive pastry chef and director of culinary operations, is in charge of the project. He said, “This is really a passion project for us. The idea of a place where we can riff on classics and the things we all grew up with. Nostalgic food. Great housemade breads and sandwiches, pizzas, exciting shared plates and of course, great desserts.”
The restaurant is named for the patron saint of pastry chefs and bakers, will serve wine and beer and will be open in the summer of 2014 for lunch, brunch and dinner.
