Overkill Tasting Dinner Unites 13 Chefs, 12 Courses

By Scott Kearnan
November 12, 2013

Next Thursday, November 21, 13 will be the luckiest number. That's how many chefs have banded together for Overkill, a 12-course (!) tasting dinner at Cambridge Boat Club to benefit Lovin' Spoonfuls, a nonprofit that collects and distributes food to soup kitchens and hunger-fighting organizations. The benefit is the brainchild of Harvest chef Mary Dumont (pictured) and pastry chef Brian Mercury, and the lineup of participating toques is impressive, including top pastry chefs like Monica Glass of Clio (a Food & Wine Best New Pastry Chef for 2013) and new Deuxave arrival Jaime Davis. Savory dishes will be prepared by foodie favorites like Will Gilson of Puritan & Company, Brian Young of Post 390 and Dave Schneller, a Harvest alum now flying high at Canary Square. You'll need something to wash down all those courses, and fear not: the team has also tapped three top bartenders (Kelly Unda of Harvest and Citizen Public House & Oyster Bar, Stephanie Lauria of Daddy Jones and Tanita Macy of Abby Lane) for cocktails and creative punchbowls. Prepare to splurge (tickets are $150 here) and get stuffed.
