Chicago Dining Deals & Events: Bastille Day, Burgers & MoreBy Sarah Freeman
July 14, 2014
Celebrate Bastille Day at Bistronomic. The contemporary French restaurant will serve classic steak frites and a bottle of French wine for, yes, $17.89 each, a number that commemorates the year that the storming of Bastille took place and the French revolution began.
Do you miss Sunday Dinner Club's market burger as much as we do? It's making a return Tuesdays at Publican Quality Meats. Enjoy a burger, bourbon and a beer from 6 to 9 PM.
Friendly reminder that nearly every bartender in Chicago has made the trip down to New Orleans for Tales of the Cocktail, so we recommend sticking to beer for your Hump Day drinks. Belly up to the bar at Banger & Lace, Fountainhead or the new First Draft in the South Loop for a prime selection.
The Grill on the Alley introduces a new five-course tasting menu that rotates a different bereave pairing every Thursday. The inaugural menu showcases international beer paired with dishes by chef Jorge Alvarez. Seatings are available at 6, 7 and 8 PM for $55. Reservations can be made online.
If you missed the Taste of Chicago, check out the more compact version, Taste of River North. The three day festival features over a dozen food vendors, from Farmhouse to Stout, as well as live music and cooking demos. Gates open at 5 PM on Friday, noon on Saturday and 11 AM on Sunday at Kingsbury and Erie. There is a $5 suggested donation.
Yes, it’s another beer festival. The backdrop for this one is Lincoln Park (at Sheffield between Belden and Webster) and brewers range from Ale Syndicate to Vice Brewing. Tickets, available online, cost $40 and include $15 beer tasting.
There will be a lot of sucking and shucking going on at Frontier’s all-you-can-eat crawfish boil. For $35, dig into freshly cooked crawfish, corn on the cob and potatoes from chef Brian Jupiter from noon to 4 PM. The meals will be accompanied by live music from the Four Star Brass Band. Purchase tickets online.
