Dallas' Ultimate New Year’s Eve Dining Guide

If you’re going to ring in 2014 in style, may as well be behind a plate of fabulous food. Here’s our list of options for fine NYE eating. Some are timed to allow you to jet to watch the ball drop or head to a party elsewhere, while some events are meant to keep you around for a champagne toast at midnight.

Second Floor Bistro
The inviting and modern bistro inside the Westin Galleria offers two made-for-couples seatings ideal for pre-party dining: a 5 PM and a 7 PM meal. Both kick off with a sparkling wine toast, then a shared appetizer, two entrees and a shared dessert. At $99 per couple, this meal is a steal, and the Second Floor also offers a $249 package that includes the dinner and a one-night stay in the Westin. Call 972-450-2978 to reserve.

Nora Restaurant
Lower Greenville’s Afghani fine-dining destination is offering a four-course meal and a glass of bubbly for $68 per person. Entree options include surf and turf kebabs and lamb shank. Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck
Five Sixty is throwing the kind of events you’d expect from the big ball in the Dallas skyline. There are 5:30 and 8:30 PM seatings for a five-course tasting menu of Asian-inspired selections from executive chef Patton Robertson’s menu, including Peking duck dumplings and Thai snapper sashimi. Dinner alone is $175 per person, and an additional $45 for optional wine pairings. Five Sixty’s private event space, aptly named Cloud Nine, will host more of a stand-up-and-mingle event, with a live DJ set, small bites like Tuna Cones and pork belly pot stickers and open bar is included in the $200 ticket price. The Design District restaurant has scheduled 5 and 8 PM seatings. The 5 PM is a four-course menu for $80 per person and optional wine pairings for $40. Belly & Trumpet
Uptown’s modern cuisine restaurant features a four-course menu at 6 PM for $75 per person and a 9 PM five-course menu for $85 per person. Both meals offer optional wine pairings and a champagne toast at the 9 PM dinner. Live entertainment from Joel Cross will lift holiday spirits even higher. Call 214-855-5551 to reserve.

The Grape
Kitchen whiz and Top Chef alum Danyele McPherson is whipping up a three-course meal at the cozy Greenville Avenue bistro for $65 per person and optional $20 wine pairings. Two-hour seatings begin at 5 PM, and the last one includes a champagne toast and party favors. Reserve here or call 214-828-1981.

SER Steak + Spirits
The 27th floor of the Hilton Anatole will light up with the steakhouse’s bevy of activities. Dinner at 5 PM will feature four courses for $90, and a $50 upcharge for wine pairings. Dinner at 9 is six courses for $150; $220 with wine pairings. Starting at 10, live DJs will spin sets for the party portion of the evening; a $65 cover charge includes party favors, a complimentary welcome cocktail and champagne toast.

Kitchen LTO
The Trinity Groves eatery presents a special five-course menu including options like tuna tartare, lobster strudel, grapefruit and arugula salad and Moscato braised leg of lamb. The menu will be served from 5:30 to 11 PM and costs $99 alone and an additional $29 for wine pairings. Reserve online or by calling 214-377-0757.

Bishop Arts’ farm-to-table haven is offering seatings for a unique a la carte dinner every half hour from 5:30 to 11 PM. Entrees will start with the likes of caviar parfait and oysters with gazpacho trio and proceed to pork osso bucco and butter-poached Maine lobster. Dee Lincoln’s Steak & Burger Bar
This casual steakhouse has planned two four-course meals for New Year’s Eve. The $50 dinner starts with P.E.I. mussels or bacon-wrapped shrimp and proceeds with entrees like a roasted chicken or a Wagyu filet and chips. The $90 menu starts with jumbo scampi-style prawns or a blackened diver scallop and offers entrees like New Zealand rack of lamb or roasted Muscovy duck. Spoon Bar & Kitchen
Chef John Tesar’s seafood establishment will prepare a tasting menu for New Year’s Eve alongside the regular menu. The tasting will be $125 per person, and an additional $75 for optional wine accompaniments. If you’re feeling really joyful, spring for the vintage champagne pairing for an additional $150.
