Why wait until December 31 to celebrate the new year? At N/Naka, chef Niki Nakayama is already offering her traditional Japanese New Year-inspired kaiseki menu starting Saturday, December 28, through Monday, December 30. The 11-course menu featuring Nakayama’s seasonal cuisine is $185 per person, with additional wine pairings for $85. And if you do want to celebrate on New Year’s Eve, the menu includes complimentary Champagne toasts and a midnight snack from Sugarbloom Bakery to take home.
Something warm and sweet for the kids and kids at heart: The Spoonful of Sugar afternoon tea at the Hotel Bel-Air, which pays homage to Disney’s beloved Mary Poppins and Tom Hanks's new Disney biopic, Saving Mr. Banks, takes place this Friday and Saturday, December 28-29, from 3-5 PM. Featuring an array of sweet and savory tea-time favorites like cupcakes, meringues, mini grilled cheeses and more, the cost is $49 per person and includes a copy of Mary Poppins (in book form) for each guest.
Yoga, jogging and beer - three things that should always go together. Starting this Sunday, December 29, show up at Angel City Brewery in the Arts District for a quick two-mile run around Downtown and a Vinyasa flow class. After, enjoy a beer. $10 for exercise and the suds. Starts at 10 AM.
