In addition to all of the great food now available at the Grand Central Market downtown (Valerie Confections, G&B Coffee, Horse Thief BBQ), and what you'll be tasting soon (Egg Slut, Olio Pizza, Bel Campo Meats), there will be a new modernized deli from chef Micah Wexler by next year. Wexler, the former Mezze chef who recently did a residency at Umamicatessen, plans to serve a traditional deli menu of corned beef, pastrami, salmon and sturgeon, all cured and smoked in-house, as well as freshly baked breads and bagels, and housemade condiments. Wexler's Deli isn't a stretch for the chef and partners, Mike Kassar and David Sanfield - the chicken liver at Mezze, based on Wexler's grandmother's recipe, was some of the best we tasted in LA. Look for the Downtown debut in February 2014.
