L'Shana Tova! If you’re celebrating the year 5774 with friends and family but don’t feel like cooking yourself, there’s no shortage of Rosh Hashanah dinners around town. At Street, Susan Feniger and Kajsa Alger serve their annual dinner tonight, a four-course menu with dishes like chilled beet borscht, heirloom tomato and parsley leaf salad; honey-cumin braised brisket; and strawberry shortcake with chocolate matzo candy. $45 per person. The first seating is at 5:30 PM, with open seating starting at 7:30 PM until close.
Suzanne Tracht serves her Rosh Hashana menu tonight and tomorrow (September 4-5) at Jar. You’ll get apple-celery salad with Marcona almonds; your choice of Jar’s signature pot roast with carrot and caramelized onion, lemongrass chicken, or a fish of the day entrée; sides served family style; and a honey-roasted fig tart or chocolate pudding for dessert. $45 per person.
It's simple and sweet at Taste at the Palisades. The three-course menu includes matzo ball soup, pomegranate-glazed salmon, and cast-iron honey cake for dessert. $29 per person.
But if you just need sweet, SusieCakes has apple and honey-themed treats, like the apple cider cupcakes topped with cream cheese frosting, a honey cake finished with sweet apple buttercream frosting, cookies, tarts and more. Find the goods at the Brentwood, Calabasas, Manhattan Beach and Newport Beach locations.
