Madison Kitchen Chef Scores "Chopped" Win

A tip of the toque to successful young chef Nick Di Bona, who just won last night's episode of the Food Network's Chopped. Though we're not super-surprised - attentive foodies might have noticed that the 28-year-old beat the clock to his televised triumph, opening his first solo restaurant, Madison Kitchen, less than a month ago. (Maybe his menus came with a spoiler alert?) The Larchmont, NY, New American boasts an impressive inaugural menu from Di Bona, who spent almost a decade at Yorktown's Peter Pratt's Inn. Highlights include crusted Hawaiian bigeye tuna, served with a yuzu soy glaze and wasabi, and Cajun jambalaya with duck, shrimp and andouille sausage Creole sauce. The modern-meets-rustic space boasts reclaimed woods, a sleek black tile wall, creative lighting based on vintage brass drums and a zinc-topped bar. It would be worth a visit even if it weren't helmed by a prodigious new winner. Consider that just a sweet finish to the story (914-732-3024).
