Miami's 10 Hottest Bars to Hit Up Right Now

By Carissa Chesanek

Sure, the Magic City is known for the bright laser lights and pumping house beats inside major nightclubs, but South Florida has plenty of other spots to offer. Whether you’re in the mood for something high-end or prefer to keep it casual, we’ve picked out the hottest bars to fit any craving.

  • Batch Gastropub

Why It's Hot: With its daily drink specials (half off all drinks every Monday all day long) and high-tech, tablet-operated tableside taps, this bumping new Brickell gastrobar won't ever disappoint on the drinking options.

Must Drink: 305 Collins ($11) on tap made with mint-infused vodka and fresh passion fruit.

Insider Tip: There's plenty of upscale pub grub to chew on including bar snacks like warm pretzel bites and herb 'n' Parmesan fries or dinner options like pork belly tacos and spicy salami pizza.

    30 SW 12th St.; 305-808-5555

  • Public House

Why It's Hot: Known as South Beach's first smoke-free bar, this lively SoFi space with mini-arcade offers a wide selection of beer, wine and cocktails in a low-key but slightly sophisticated setting.

Must Drink: A classic Old Fashioned ($10) mixed with Bourbon, housemade simple syrup and an orange peel.

Insider Tip: While these guys don't make food in-house, guests won't go hungry - they can order pizza (including the signature Public House pie made with mushroom and spicy sausage) at La Locanda nearby and have it delivered right to their stool.

    423 Washington Ave.; 305-763-8109

  • Sweetwater Beer Garden

Why It's Hot: This poolside, beer-focused outdoor escape was so popular last year as a pop-up inside The Ansonia Hotel, that it moved to the soon-to-open South Beach Hotel for a permanent locale.

Must Drink: The menu isn't official yet (since the new location doesn't debut until Winter Music Conference), but we're thinking the go-to libations will be close to its prior offerings of Blue Moon ($5) and smoky grilled pineapple vodka drinks ($10).

Insider Tip: Expect a few simple American comfort-food offerings too that will pair perfectly with the brews.

    236 21st St.

  • Bar Stache 1920s Drinking Den

Why It's Hot: This inky basement-style speakeasy not only shells out a raw mix of musical beats (think rock tunes combined with sultry soul), but it serves plenty of high-end spirits too.

Must Drink: Split a bottle of discounted Krug ($99) during Friday happy hour (starting at 5 PM).

Insider Tip: There is also a rotating craft beer bar located in the bar's Nook area with select brews starting at $5.

    109 SW Second Ave.; 954-449-1025

  • Yard House

Why It's Hot: With more than 140 beers on tap, prime go-to comfort food and relatively cheap prices, the South Beach crowd is thrilled to add this brew bar's latest outpost to their go-to list.

Must Drink: Cigar City Florida Cracker ($4.25 for a shorty).

Insider Tip: A late-night menu (think piled-high loaded nachos) is also offered for those looking to snack on bar grub after 10 PM.

    1681 Lenox Ave.; 305-535-5660

  • Lagniappe

Why It's Hot: Situated right between Midtown and Wynood, this New Orleans-style bar is a secret to many, but sought out once it's found - especially with live jazz tunes and over 150 wines and beers.

Must Drink: Bottle of wine like the Wishing Tree's Australian Shiraz ($25).

Insider Tip: Chow down on some upgraded bar bites like veggie skewers and chipotle barbecue chicken, or stick with the classic meat-and-cheese offerings to pair with your vino.

    3425 NE Second Ave.; 305-576-0108

  • MO Bar + Lounge

Why It's Hot: This ultraswanky lounge resides inside Brickell Key's Mandarin Oriental with panoramic water views and lavish libations.

Must Drink: New York Sour ($14) made with whiskey, lemon, egg white and red-wine float.

Insider Tip: Get here before sunset to enjoy the gorgeous view while beating the post-dinner crowd.

    500 Brickell Key Dr.; 305-913 8358

  • Baru Urbano

Why It's Hot: With its graffiti-splashed walls, tricked-out lighting and array of cocktail choices, this Midtown bar provides a clublike setting but with a chill happy-hour vibe.

Must Drink: Pitcher of Refajo ($16) mixed with beer and Champagne Kola-flavored soda.

Insider Tip: While this funky space might not look the part, it partially serves as a Latin restaurant providing dishes like late-night cornmeal empanadas stuffed with beef.

    3252 NE First Ave.; 786-406-6586

  • Delancey's

Why It's Hot: Located inside the charming South Beach Townhouse Hotel, this low-key, artsy bar/lounge provides the perfect intimate gathering for the late-night crowd.

Must Drink: A glass of bulleit bourbon on the rocks ($12).

Insider Tip: Going with a date? Get there right around opening (11 PM) to secure a cozy spot in the corner on a plush orange couch.

    150 20th St.; 786-233-9208

  • R House

Why It's Hot: Sure, it has an actual dining room to devour seafood cakes and braised lamb shank, but the real place to chill is at the bar while sipping on cocktails, taking in local abstract art and listening to the live DJ.

Must Drink: Signature cosmopolitan made with housemade vodka and ginger infusion ($10).

Insider Tip: Weeknights can be quiet, so if you're looking for a more lively ambiance, head out there on the weekends to join the cool, artsy crowd.
