The 10 Hottest Bars in Miami

By Carissa Chesanek
July 7, 2014

Miami has a rep for megaclubs with laser lights and house beats, but we're so much more (or less) than that. Here are the 10 hottest bars in Miami right now.

  • Benchwarmers Food & Spirits

Why It's Hot: The laid-back sports bar, from the masterminds behind Wood Tavern, offers a plethora of brews, hearty bar eats and french fries galore.

Must-Drink: A draft brew like Funky Buddha Crusher ($4) during late-night happy hour from 11 PM-1 AM.

Insider Tip: There's plenty of paid parking in the lot out back.

  • Public House

Why It's Hot: Known as South Beach's first smoke-free bar, this lively SoFi space with mini-arcade offers a wide selection of beer, wine and cocktails in a low-key, sophisticated setting.

    Must-Drink: A classic old fashioned ($10).

Insider Tip: While these guys don't make food in-house, guests won't go hungry. Order pizza from La Locanda (we suggest the signature Public House pie with mushroom and spicy sausage) and have it delivered right to your stool.

  • Brick House

Why It's Hot: The chill drinking den, housed in a 1920s Wynwood house with tree-lit patio/beer garden, features live music, small-batch whiskey and upgraded pub grub (think corn dogs and lamb sliders).

Must-Drink: Jameson on the rocks — just $4 at happy hour!

Insider Tip: The happy hour (Fridays and Saturdays, 5-8 PM) also includes $2.50 craft brews and $6 bar bites.

  • Bar Stache 1920s Drinking Den

Why It's Hot: This inky, speakeasy-style bar shells out a raw mix of music (from rock tunes to sultry soul) along with high-end spirits.

Must-Drink: Split a bottle of discounted Krug ($99) during Friday happy hour (starting at 5 PM).

Insider Tip: There's a rotating craft-beer bar located in the Nook area with select brews starting at $5.

  • Redbar Brickell

Why It's Hot: A recent revamp gave this neighborhood den a cool basement vibe with mismatched furniture, mural-splashed walls and handcrafted cocktails.

Must-Drink: Banana Bread Old Fashioned with bourbon and banana bread syrup ($11).

Insider Tip: Nab $5 Johnnie Walker Black and Bulleit all day long on Whiskey Wednesdays.

  • Lagniappe

Why It's Hot: Situated between Midtown and Wynwood, this under-the-radar New Orleans-style bar serves up live jazz and over 150 wines and beers.

    Must-Drink: A bottle of Wishing Tree's Australian Shiraz ($25).

Insider Tip: Chow down on upgraded bar bites (veggie skewers, chipotle barbecue chicken) or classic meat and cheese pairings.

  • MO Bar + Lounge

Why It's Hot: This ultraswanky lounge inside Brickell Key's Mandarin Oriental has panoramic water views and lavish libations.

Must-Drink: New York Sour with whiskey, lemon, egg white and red-wine float ($14).

Insider Tip: Get here before sunset to enjoy the view while beating the post-dinner crowd.

  • The Mighty

Why It's Hot: Along the shaded streets of Coral Way, the dimly lit watering hole focuses on beer (with 11 on tap) as well as housemade sausage.

Must-Drink: "Large-format bottle" of Cambridge Brewing Company's Tripel Threat ($24).

Insider Tip: While beer is the main event, cocktails shouldn't be slighted, especially the Second Childhood (rum, ginger beer and muddled cucumbers).

  • Delancey's

Why It's Hot: Inside the charming South Beach Townhouse Hotel, this low-key, artsy lounge provides an ideal gathering spot for the late-night crowd.

Must-Drink: Italian shaved ices with your choice of booze ($10).

Insider Tip: Going with a date? Get there around opening (at 6 PM) to secure a cozy spot on a plush orange couch.

  • Tap 79

Why It's Hot: Chef-owner Alfredo Patino (of Downtown's popular Bin No. 18 wine bar) brings this gastropub to MiMO with eight craft beers on tap, as well as gourmet burgers and tapas to share.

Must-Drink: Fat Tire Amber Ale on tap ($6).

Insider Tip: Winos score half-off the entire list on Tuesdays.
