Are the French Falling Out of Love With Bread?

Is the low-carb craze chipping away at French culture? French people are eating less bread, a lot less bread, according to the NY Times. The decline in bread consumption is so troubling in fact that the Observatoire du Pain, the bakers’ and millers’ lobby, has launched a campaign to sell bread as a healthy choice and one that promotes French civilization. Similar to the "Got Milk?" campaign that American dairy farmers mounted in the U.S. to promote milk consumption, the slogan is, "Coucou, tu as pris le pain?” (“Hi there, have you picked up the bread?”) Read more about this here.
