Best Thing We Ate: Duck Confit Nachos at El Gato

Regrettably, our first visit to Smorgasburg happened in late August this year (and no we didn't get there in time for a ramen burger). But in the year since we last visited, the Smorg has added a few new vendors that we had never tried before. We got our usual lobster roll from Red Hook Lobster Pound, mourned the absence of Bon Chovie and then stumbled upon some serious looking nachos at El Gato. We went for the duck confit/black bean variety which infused the confit into the beans themselves and then garnished with cilantro, pickled red onions and radishes. The savory bean sauce was unlike any nacho topping we've ever had - the flavor of duck melded well with the other Mexican toppings oddly enough and the portion was enough to feed three people. Who says nachos can't be classy?
