Best Thing We Ate: Fall Gnocchi at ABV

Corey Cova is pretty much nailing it lately. With Dough Loco - his recently opened (and always sold-out) doughnut shop - Earl's Beer & Cheese and Flock Dinner, this guy is on his way to celebrity chef-dom.

We recently dropped by AVB on the Upper East Side, where Cova's the chef, and the place was packed with a mix of young professionals, date-nighters and neighborhood regulars who were lingering over communal tables and sipping wine at the bar.

While it was hard to pass up the foie gras fluffernutter (it’s a menu staple that’s definitely worth trying), the seasonal fall gnocchi won us over. Tossed in brown butter with butternut squash, oyster mushrooms and aged goat cheese ($12), it made for a simple, comforting supper on a chilly October evening (212-722-8959).
