Cerveceria Havemeyer Opens in the 'Burg

La Superior owner Felipe Mendez opened his new project, Cerveceria Havemeyer in Williamsburg, over the weekend. As you may recall, this one's more cantina and drinking-destination-with-food than his beloved taqueria. You'll find several house margaritas, including a spicy version made with pink guava juice. Notable food items include aguachiles, the barely cooked cousin of ceviche (a citrus marinade is drizzled on just before serving), and the volcano, a Mexico City drunk-food favorite featuring a large, crispy tortilla piled with melted cheese and meat of choice. Mendez reports that opening weekend was hopping. Get down there before grabbing a spot at one of the long, communal tables becomes impossible. For now hours are 4 PM to 2 AM daily (149 Havemeyer St.).
