This, September, New York City’s 3rd Annual Dîner en Blanc will take place - but we can’t tell you where. At the last minute, the location of this year’s organized outdoor picnic is given to thousands of people that have been patiently waiting to learn the secret place (last year’s location was on the plaza at Lincoln Center). It’s at that time that guests dressed in white meet for a mass pop-up picnic.
The event, where guests are expected to “conduct themselves with the greatest decorum, elegance and etiquette” began in France over 25 years ago, and now takes place in over 20 cities across five continents. The event's newest addition, Blog En Blanc, is inviting 100 of the most influential bloggers to the dinner this year, so expect stellar coverage. So how do you score an invite? The event is organized by word-of-mouth and a bit of savvy social media, so add yourself the the waitlist, and if you are lucky enough to score a seat, here’s what you’ll need to bring: a table, two (white) chairs, a picnic basket comprised of quality menu items and china. You must wear white and be dressed elegantly. “Originality is encouraged as long as it stays stylish and denotes taste.” And bring on the bubbly - the night will certainly end with an outdoor dance party.
