The gist: A vegetable-focused concept from former The Elm chef Mazen Mustafa and Jenny Moon, aanaging Partner of Apiary, serving seasonal, modern American cuisine.
The space: The 56-seat space features 11 bar seats, modern design and neutral tones. Suspended Edison bulbs hang from the ceiling over each table.
The food: The small plates-driven menu will change frequently based on seasonality and will feature items like heirloom carrots with koji, sea buckthorn and langoustine; “Egg Drop Soup” with king crab, spring garlic and water spinach; crudités with soy miso royale, raw and pickled vegetables; and foie gras with beets, rhubarb, anise hyssop and brioche. The dessert menu features a beet cake with huckleberry and yogurt ice cream as well as a dark chocolate cremeux with black cherry, pistachios and carob meringue.
The drinks: Put together by Beverage Director Hernan Martinez (Sinigual) and former WD-50 head bartender James Giannattasio, the cocktail program will also be market driven and seasonal. The extensive wine list will focus on whites, including 20 selections by the glass. "No Corkage Mondays" which was a hit at Apiary, will continue at Après.
