Walking and wine: why hasn’t this been done before? The Boston-based City Wine Tours has launched its first New York tour, taking place in the West Village and SoHo - so you no longer need to head out to the North Fork or the Finger Lakes to get your fix.
Here’s how it works: the guides take you to three Downtown locales where they'll talk you through tastings and food pairings (think a white Müller-Thurgau with orange honey and basil pesto crostini, or sparkling Prosecco with Murray's cheese). They’re on hand to answer questions about anything from distinguishing among different varietals, to finding good, inexpensive bottles, to snagging a discount at any liquor store. The West Village tour includes Corsino Cantina, A.O.C and Ayza Wine & Chocolate Bar, while the SoHo walk hits City Winery, Boqueria and Comodo. The two-hour jaunt runs for $75 and can be purchased here. Now you know where to take your parents this holiday season (855-455-8747).
