Where to Brunch This Weekend: Kin Shop

Harold Dieterle of Top Chef fame has received major accolades for his West Village Thai restaurant, Kin Shop. Good news: He’s now serving brunch. The Southeast Asian menu dishes out contemporary Thai cuisine that’s a welcome change from the traditional mid-morning meal. The Thai-style fried chicken with coriander nam prik (chili relish), fresh herbs and sweet chili-fish sauce is a solid hangover cure and the spicy duck laab salad with toasted rice, ground chili and romaine hearts is tongue-numbingly spicy. But it’s the braised goat stew with purple yams and greens that really warms you up during this kind of frigid weather.
Drink-wise, there are a host of solid Asian beers, as well as brunch cocktails like the 460 Bloody Maria with Sriracha, olive brine and Szechuan pepper, or a Kin Royale with calamansi nectar, plum bitters and a float of bubbles (212-675-4295).
