September is National Bourbon Heritage Month, and while The Twisted Tail is a great place to enjoy America’s best liquid product all year round, proprietor George Reilly is taking the opportunity to host a series of special tastings and events designed around the brown spirit.
Each week is dedicated to a different bourbon, with a featured flight of that producer’s spirits on offer. This week Pennsylvania’s own Dad’s Hat Rye is in the spotlight, with a three-pour flight available for $20. Also, on Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM, you can swing by the Headhouse Square bar to meet founder Herman Mihalich and distiller John Cooper - they’ll be pouring tastes so expect free samples while you learn the inside secrets of this new distillery.
Woodford Reserve is featured the next week, with a $25 flight, and on Wednesday, September 11, distiller Chris Morris will be on hand to introduce guests to his lineup of brown spirits starting at 5:30 PM. The week of September 16 brings a flight of Heaven Hill liquors ($15), as well as a four-course pairing dinner for $45 on Wednesday, September 18. Finally, Bulleit will close out the month with a $21 flight and a tasting on Wednesday, September 25.
All the Wednesday tastings are all free, but you do have to make reservations by calling the restaurant (215-558-2471).
