On Monday, the second Philadelphia outpost of NYC-based Joe Coffee opens in University City (the first launched in Rittenhouse this spring). The cafe is the first eatery to open in the brand new Chestnut Square building at 3200 Chestnut, which will also be home to Shake Shack, Zavino, Yogorino and coZara - a more casual Asian spot from Hiroyuki "Zama" Tanaka of Zama.
Along with house brand coffee - it’s roasted in Brooklyn at the Pulley Collective - this Joe’s location will sell food. Area students and other West Philly breakfast and lunch patrons can look forward to easy access to goods from Talula’s Daily. Aimee Olexy’s Washington Square market will provide pastries and a small selection of soups, salads and sandwiches daily.
Designed by Streetsense, the cafe’s interior seats around 30 people and features steel, reclaimed wood and cement. Free Wi-Fi is available, and there’s also an express cart that will serve grab-and-go drip and iced coffee year round.
Joe Coffee University City will be open 8 AM-9PM, every day.
