Now Open: Cardenas Oil & Vinegar Taproom

By Danya Henninger
August 21, 2013

Olive oil and vinegar have been sold in the Italian Market for over a hundred years, but never before like this. As of last Friday, Cardenas Oil & Vinegar Taproom is open for business at 942 South 9th Street, just north of Carpenter, next to Talluto’s.

Laurissa Cardenas and her mother Irene are stocking more than 30 varieties of vinegars and close to 25 different olive oils - several extra virgins of differing origin and some infused with spices or herbs. Each is available to taste and try before you pick up a custom-filled bottle.

Cardenas is planning to increase the selection as things get going, looking to source directly from family-run vineyards and estates. Also on offer are several sea salts from around the world and a mix of local condiments, jams, chutneys and pickles. The tasting room is currently open 10 AM-6 PM daily (267-928-3690).
