Feast Portland’s kickoff event, the Sandwich Invitational, is the only competition of the three-day food festival. Judges included Top Chef Masters’ own Francis Lam; and local hero and last year’s sammie queen Naomi Pomeroy. Out of the 15 competitors, which ranged from Duff Goldman and his peanut butter, jelly and bacon to Paul Qui’s rabbit bun, the locals reigned supreme. Laurelhurst Market took the judges' trophy for its smoked beef tongue wrap; and the The Country Cat snagged people’s choice for its lamb burger. Here’s a look at the night’s highlights.
