Just when you thought there were no more new food trucks on the horizon, Mercadito Wheels rolls onto the scene. The collaboration between Mercadito Hospitality, a group with restaurants in Chicago, New York and Miami, and local San Diego restaurateur Pablo Becker will be offering modern takes on traditional Mexican dishes. Tacos de carnitas (Michoacán-style braised pork, chile de árbol coleslaw and toasted peanuts) and the Mercadito Burger (a rib-eye and short-rib patty with jalapeño emulsion, Chihuahua and Oaxaca cheeses and grilled scallions) are just two of their distinct dishes. And now is your chance to check it out. Starting tomorrow, the truck will be serving at Offbeat Brewing Company from 3-8 PM and again on Sunday at Thorn Street Brewery 4-8 PM.
