Cafe Claude's Escargot Is a Bite of French Tradition

The two-month-old Cafe Claude Marina feels as though it's been a part of the neighborhood for years, an illusion no doubt helped by the number of classic French dishes on the menu. An appetizer of escargot en croute is a stylish reminder of the motherland. The tops of the little puff pastry-encased snails threaten to sizzle over from the filling of garlic butter and parsley below. A touch of Pernod adds a barely-perceptible hint of earthy anise flavor.
