Friday, Saturday and Sunday
This weekend, it's all about Eat Real Fest as savvy Bay Area eaters descend on Jack London Square in Oakland for three days of affordable and creative food, craft beer and wine, DIY workshops and cooking and butchery demonstrations. The people-watching is almost as good as the food. Admission is free but bring cash for snacking. Pro tip: It tends to be a scorcher out there every year, so bring some water and sunscreen as well. Hours are 1-9 PM on Friday, 10:30 AM-9 PM on Saturday and 10:30 AM-5 PM on Sunday.
Novela hosts a craft beer showcase from noon to 6 PM. Brews on the Block features suds from locals such as Almanac, Devil's Canyon, Headlands, Heretic, Pacific Brew, Firestone Walker and Palmia. The event is free with RSVP and costs $25-35 for unlimited tastings and a souvenir cup. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Yerba Buena Community Benefit District.
The 8th Annual Sake Day takes place from 5-8 PM at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, with 100 sakes to sample, food by Izakaya Ju-Ku, blind tasting stations and a live auction. Tickets ($75) are close to selling out, so act fast if you're interested.
