The 20something wine tasting on November 23 at Fremont Studios is unlike any other tasting event. For starters, there's a DJ pumping up the well-dressed crowd. This year, Seattle-born Tina T will be spinning the kind of all-over-the-board mix that's made her a hit at dance clubs around the country. Winemakers weave their way through the massive space, pouring red, white and pink wines from Washington State while restaurants from around the city serve sweet and savory snacks.
Nicknamed The New Vintage, this event has become the must-attend party of the fall, with tickets selling out in a big hurry.
Restaurants featured at this year's 20something include Manhattan, serving its rave-worthy shrimp and grits with pork belly, Poquito's, O'Asian Kitchen and Ivar's, which will prepare seared scallops with house-smoked bacon and chanterelle mushrooms. Dozens of Washington State's hottest wineries will be pouring, a star-studded lineup that's grown since the super-fun event was first conceived by the state's wine commission. (Which just launched a clever new campaign to make wine a lot more approachable by poking fun at stuffy stereotypes.)
Tickets are $55, and you do not have to be under 30 to attend. Savvy wine lovers of every demographic know this tasting party is one of the best deals around.
