- The local pizza chain called &pizza opened its Monroe Street Market location yesterday near Catholic University, the first in the chain to offer patio seating. The shop will be open from 10 AM-11 PM Sunday through Thursday and 10 AM-midnight Friday and Saturday (664-666 Monroe St. NE; 202-733-1287).
- The Washington Post reports that Soupergirl plans to open a shop at 1829 M St. NW in mid-May. The report says the vegan, kosher soup shop will be in the former Yo-Cake spot and will not have seating.
- Eater DC digs deeper into the news broken via Facebook last night (and Twitter today) that Owen Thomson has joined the bar team at Rose’s Luxury. Eater DC reveals that the locally renowned bartender, who has worked at Range and is currently working on opening his own bar called Seven Faces Barroom, will continue to work for Bar Pilar and Cafe Saint-Ex.
- Dolcezza has teamed up with Buzz Bakery for a coffee and donuts deal that will be offered at the Dolcezza Gelato Factory and Coffee Lab near Union Market. Each weekend, $4 will buy you a house coffee from Stumptown Roasters and a mini donut from Buzz Bakery. Flavors, which will be delivered fresh Saturday and Sunday mornings, will include cinnamon glaze, passion fruit and lemon-poppy.
