- Eater DC reports that a minor fire at Palisades restaurant BlackSalt over the weekend kept the restaurant from opening for brunch and dinner yesterday. The restaurant’s Twitter account says to stay tuned for information on when it will reopen, but no word yet of it being ready to do so. No injuries were reported.
- The Hula Girl Truck has dropped hints on Twitter about turning into a brick-and-mortar operation called Hula Girl Bar & Grill, possibly selling Hawaiian coffee, food, cocktails and beer. We’ve reached out to Hula Girl Truck, which has been off the road for a few weeks, for more information and will update you when we learn more.
- Chez Billy launched a new all-day bar menu today, featuring items like deviled eggs with capers, boquerones and pickled shallot ($4); marinated olives with aged sherry vinegar ($5); and a “Royal with cheese” - a 6-ounce natural beef burger with Gruyère, bread-and-butter pickles, smoked bacon, special sauce on a sesame-seed bun with pommes frites or mixed greens ($15). Does that last one sound familiar?
- Loews Madison Hotel hosts a tasty incentive Wednesday from 11 AM-2 PM in the PostScript Cafe in the lobby: Anyone who comes in and during that time and likes the hotel on Facebook receives a free cupcake and hot chocolate. Participants are entered to win a two-night stay at the hotel (1177 15th St. NW).
