- Sticky Fingers Bakery, the popular vegan spot in Columbia Heights, announced today that it will expand to H Street NE early next year. Owner and vegan baker Doron Petersan is a two-time champion of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, and the larger space will allow her to increase the offerings at the new location to include more baked goods, a bistro menu and a full bar. The vibe will skew toward ’50s diner, and the restaurant will be open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner (406 H St. NE).
- Sweetgreen Dupont Circle has launched a test kitchen that will serve as the taste-testing ground for the locally based salad chain’s nearly 30 storefronts. Salad fans can currently taste three seasonal salad contenders and five possible signature salads that aren’t yet available at any other location. Choices include a peach and goat cheese salad with baby spinach, mesclun, toasted almonds, basil and a balsamic vinaigrette as well as a Rad Thai salad of greens, bean sprouts, carrots, cukes, spicy sunflower seeds, basil, citrus shrimp and a spicy cashew dressing. - Westfield Montgomery Shopping Center plans to open a dining terrace this summer that will feature five new sit-down options for the Bethesda mall — including Chipotle and the local fast-casual chain Cava Mezze Grill. The other three choices for shoppers will be national chain Crave, Massachusetts-based Met and California-based Blaze Pizza.
- DGS Delicatessen’s bar hosts another Delicatessen After Dark, its monthly cocktail club, tonight starting at 8 PM. This one draws on the theme Summer in the Catskills, offering $10 cocktails like the Dirty Dancing (Sapin liqueur, Velvet Falernum, pineapple, lime, nutmeg and Angostura bitters); a Plum Caipirinha (Boca Loca Cachaca, sugar, lime and purple plum); and the Strawberry Blonde (strawberry-infused Damrack Gin, Dolin Blanc and sloe gin).
