BlackSalt hosts a five-course Argyle Winery dinner Oct. 22 at 7 PM that will showcase the food of executive chef Mike Huff paired with the Willamette Valley wines. Dishes will include  oyster and scallop carpaccio with Champagne granita and Long Island duck breast with duck confit and celeriac purée. The cost is $135 per person, excluding tax and gratuity (202-342-9101).


Jack Rose Dining Saloon hosts best-selling author Fred Minnick for the launch of his new book, “Whiskey Women: The Untold Story of How Women Saved Bourbon, Scotch, and Irish Whiskey,” from 6-8 PM Oct. 23. Join the Kentucky author for a whisky discussion, tasting and book signing. Tickets cost $30, which includes a signed copy of the book (202-588-7388).

Jackson 20 presents a family-style turkey, bourbon and cigar dinner to celebrate the fall harvest season Oct. 23 at 7 PM. The menu will include a slow-roasted Eco Friendly Foods turkey, truffled mashed potatoes and sausage and sage stuffing. Dinner will be accompanied by a bourbon tasting and followed by cigars in the courtyard. Cost is $38 per person excluding tax, gratuity and cigars (703-842-2790).


Industree, a DC-based hospitality organization, hosts a pop-up event called F*ck Forks Oct. 24 from 6-9 PM at Taste of DC’s headquarters to benefit F*ck Cancer. The event will feature fork-free dishes by 10 celebrated area chefs - including Ripple’s Marjorie Meek-Bradley, Red Hen’s Mike Friedman and Robert Wiedmaier of Marcel’s - plus four notable mixologists and music. Cost is $95 per person (buy tickets here).
