New Openings

Hawksmoor Comes to EC2

Steak lovers simply can’t get enough of the slabs of meat on offer at Hawksmoor. Both the original Shoreditch location and the Covent Garden offshoot pack 'em in with sumptuous cuts of cow, a friendly feel and impressive lists of both cocktails and wines. So it's not really a surprise that a third restaurant should be in the offing, and perhaps plonking in the heart of the City is a bit of a no-brainer.

Catering to business-lunchers, dealmakers and celebrating traders, the new restaurant – with around 180 covers all in, including 22 in a private dining room and 75 in the bar – will boast a similar menu of steaks, burgers and chips, as well as some new dishes. But oenophile diners will also be delighted by the walk-in wine room and London's first dedicated port enomatic preservation system, with a range of fine ports available by the glass. The opening is slated for October 2011 (10-12 Basinghall St., EC2).
