Gary Danko is having a good day. In Zagat's just-released 2010 San Francisco Bay Area Restaurants guide, the popular toque's namesake restaurant not only reclaimed the top spot in our Food category but also landed at the top of our Service and Popularity lists. Also honored were Big Sur's re-fabbed Sierra Mar, which took Top Decor, and Michael Chiarello's Yountville Italian Bottega, which nabbed the Top Newcomer prize. But all that fabulousness comes at a price: the survey found that the Bay Area is one of the most expensive places to eat in the nation – an average meal costs $39.40, compared to $34.54 nationally – although affordable options like food trucks proved popular with a majority of those surveyed.
