In light of recent economic turmoil, it’s not surprising that restaurant franchises are on the rise – it’s safer to replicate a tested concept rather than try something new. Upper Crust pizzeria, which is on Zagat's Top Pizza
list, has been busy expanding even further, opening new locations out
in Newburyport (44 State St.; 978-463-3313) and Plymouth (15 Court St.;
508-747-6000). Beer and wine are served at these smaller outposts. Back in the city, M.J. O'Connor's, the lively pub at the Boston Park Plaza, and City Bar, a hip lounge serving upscale bites at The Lenox, have each opened second locations in The Westin Boston Waterfront (425 Summer St.; 617-532-4600). Both spots offer a similar look, feel and menu as at their original locations.
