The spiffed-up sliders trend continues – Avila in the Theater District makes its version with Kobe beef ($6), while over in Beacon Hill, New American Clink serves veal meatballs dressed with ricotta and sage on a brioche bun (two for $10). Scarlet Oak Tavern, set in a Colonial farmhouse in Hingham, offers its take with house-smoked barbecued brisket sandwiches and homemade pickles (four for $9). Finally, if you're on the mini-burger hunt in the Financial District, The Vault serves simple sliders accompanied by pickles (four for $9.50, or $30 for a corporate platter).
