Stoddard Fine Food & Ale is set to open mid-July in Downtown Crossing, across from Ivy. Owner William Ashmore, with the help of menu consultant Chris Schlesinger (East Coast Grill), is promising a gentlemen's-club vibe, complete with beer in casks, a shoeshine stand and a lower-level private bar (48 Temple Pl.; 617-426-0048).
