Get your half-pint fix at Miracle of Science.

Half pints of beer are in. But you may be wondering – what’s so special about getting less of something? The lower price is a draw, certainly, starting as low as $2.75 for an 8- or 10-oz. pour. But there are other benefits to going halfsies: “I like my beer cold,” says Miracle of Science general manager Dennis Silva, “and it stays cold and fresher in little glasses.” Smaller pours also appeal to lightweights (and designated drivers) looking for more modest refreshment.
So let’s raise a glass to Boston area eateries that show a little love for littler beers: Half pints are served both at Miracle of Science and its owners’ other spot, Harvard Square newcomer Tory Row, and you can also find diminutive beers at Jamaica Plain's James’s Gate, the South End's Coda, Allston's Common Ground and Kenmore Square's Eastern Standard (which also serves beer cocktails). Taking the trend one step further, Sunset Grill in Allston and Redbones BBQ in Somerville offer 5-oz. tastings of beer – a thoughtful gesture considering Sunset has nearly 200 beers on tap and Redbones specializes in hard-to-find microbrews.
